The place was short on skating surface and long on tradition. And while it had no air conditioning, it certainly had heroes. By modern standards, Boston Garden was a rinky- dink facility. In historical terms, the place was a shrine. Over the years, hockey icons like Eddie Shore, Lionel Hitchman, Bobby Orr, Aubrey Clapper, Phil Esposito, John Bucyk and Milt Schmidt called the Garden home. Five Stanley Cup banners hung from the rafters. Here, it's April 23, 1995, and the Bruins and Rangers are renewing their long and robust rivalry one last time on Boston Garden ice (the Bruins won, 5-4). Sure, there will be more Rangers-Bruins games in Beantown. But they will never be quite the same.
